Mappa presents works from 32 artists that crystallize the borders between memory, beauty, and anxiety. At the core is an amalgam of all the birds we have met and heard, their sounds synthesised from a blend of memories. Included is Susurrus by Cheryl E. Leonard. Profits from the record will be donated to the SOS/BirdLife Slovakia, an organization protecting the bird biotops by river Ipeľ, in the south of Slovakia.

Double album of collaborative works by Sheila Bosco, Cheryl E. Leonard, and Gregory Scharpen. Part one: Carnacki members each individually crafted a swath of material of varying pre-determined lengths (4 minutes, 6 minutes, etc.) without knowing what anybody else was concocting. These 110 tracks feature real and virtual musicians who perform composed music combined with improvisation — a blend of serenity, intensity, and stability that shifts like the sands in a desert. The compositions showcase the musicians’ creative talents through soloistic journeys, interludes, and a myriad of improvisational approaches played over a large and continually changing symphonic setting and orchestral textures. Cheryl E. Leonard builds and plays electroacoustic instruments made out of natural materials such as bones, driftwood, shells, seaweed, feathers, and stones. Jon Leidecker (aka ‘Wobbly’) responds to the sounds of her creations with synthesized animal voices driven by machine listening. Multiple Park is a visceral meditation on the sounds of “the outdoors,” and how those sounds are changed and framed by our technologically accelerating lives.

Bodyscape is inspired by the body of a dancer as sonic source. Information is taken via biosensors and microphones, which record movements and events generated by the body. In this ecosystem the dancer produces sounds, mainly inaudible, which are then amplified and sent back to the performance space where the dancer interacts with them as biofeedback.
